Abstract
Porous concrete is an environmentally friendly concrete solution due to its ability to replenish groundwater and reduce surface water runoff. This research aims to investigate the potential use of oil palm shells as a partial replacement for coarse aggregates and oil palm ash (POFA) as a mixture in the production of porous concrete, focusing on determining its impact on compressive strength, permeability, total voids, density, and splitting tensile strength of the concrete. The research method involves substituting 25% and 50% of the coarse aggregate (gravel) with oil palm shells, as well as substituting 10% of the cement with POFA. Testing is conducted at 7 days (compressive strength) and 28 days (compressive strength, permeability, total voids, density, and splitting tensile strength) of concrete age. The results indicate that the utilization of oil palm shells and POFA tends to increase the total void and permeability values of the concrete, but has the potential to decrease the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and density of the
porous concrete.
