Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using the scramble method in improving interest in learning to understand reading in grade 9 students at SMP Negeri 6 Majene. The approach used in this research is quantitative. The research subjects with total random sampling consisted of all 9th graders, namely 20 students. The research data were collected by distributing tests
(pre-test and post-test) and questionnaires. The research data was analyzed using SPSS. This study shows that there is in improving student learning outcomes in reading comprehension after using the scramble method. These results are indicated by a significant value (2 tailed) which is smaller than the significant level (0.000 <0.05). Then students also gave a positive response from the results
of the questionnaire answers. They argue that learning narrative texts using the scramble method is fun and easy to understand
