Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the improvement, and the students' responses to Personal Vocabulary Notes (PVN) in improving vocabulary mastery. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Alu. The approach was used in this research is quantitative with a Quasi-Experimental design methodology, using a purposive sampling technique as a sampling technique. The population is 40 students. Samples were taken from class X IPS1 as an experimental class with a total of 20 students and X IPS2 as a control class with a total of 20 students. Data collection was carried out using pre-test and post-test instruments consisting of 15 questions by matching vocabulary. Data analysis techniques use the SPSS application version 25 for windows. The results of the research analysis showed that the average posttest score was 77.35, which was higher than the pretest average score, which was 47.35. From the results of these values it can be concluded that Ha is acceptable. Student responses to the use of Personal Vocabulary Notes (PVN) can be seen from students who answered the questionnaire with agreeing answers with numbers (73%). Therefore it can be concluded that students like and are motivated to learn using Personal Vocabulary Notes (PVN) media to improve English vocabulary mastery.
