ABSTRACT
The Effectiveness of Health Promotion Comparing Leaflet and Audio-Visual Media in Enhancing Handwashing with Soap Knowledge Among Students at SDN 12 INP Pettabeang. This study aimed to analyze the comparative effectiveness of health promotion using leaflet media versus audio-visual media in increasing students' knowledge of Handwashing with Soap (HWWS) at SDN 12 INP Pettabeang. The research utilized a Pre�Experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach on two intervention groups. The population and sample consisted of a total of 66 students from grades IV, V, and VI, who were equally divided into two treatment groups: the leaflet media group and the audio�visual media group, with 33 respondents each. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test to determine the difference in knowledge before and after the intervention. The results showed that both media, leaflet and audio-visual, were effective in increasing students' HWWS knowledge. However, the increase in knowledge in the leaflet group was classified as low, with an average score increase difference of only 0.48. Conversely, the audio-visual media demonstrated a highly significant increase, with an
average score increase difference of 6.49. This proves that audio-visual media was far more successful, leading to a knowledge improvement from 60.6% (pre-test) to 100% (post�test). The audio-visual health promotion media is the most effective method for increasing knowledge about Handwashing with Soap among students at SDN 12 INP Pettabeang compared to leaflet media.
