Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan motivasi belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan motivasi belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode quasi experimental designs. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 4 Majene tahun ajaran 2024/2025 dengan subjek penelitian yaitu kelas eksperimen berjumlah 30 siswa dan kelas kontrol berjumlah 29 siswa. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes pemahaman konsep matematika, angket motivasi belajar dan lembar observasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial berbantuan aplikasi SPSS 24. Hasil analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa pada kelas eksperimen memperoleh nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 58,00 dan kelas control memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 54,31, sedangkan untuk nilai posttest pada kelas ekperimen memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 83,33 dan pada kelas control memperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 73,28. kemudian hasil analisis inferensial dengan pengujian hipotesis uji independent sample t Test dan uji Manova diperoleh nilai sig < 0,005 sehingga H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima, artinya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa dan motivasi belajar siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran langsung.
This study aims to determine whether the ability to understand concepts and learning motivation using problem-based learning models is higher than the ability to understand concepts and learning motivation using direct learning models. This type of research is quantitative research using the quasi-experimental designs method. This research was conducted at SMPN 4 Majene in the 2024/2025
academic year with research subjects, namely the experimental class consisting of 30 students and the control class consisting of 29 students. Research data were collected using a mathematical concept understanding test, learning motivation questionnaire and observation sheets. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis and inferential analysis assisted by the SPSS 24 application. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the experimental class obtained an average pretest score of 58.00 and the control class obtained an average score of 54.31, while the posttest score in the experimental class obtained an average score of 83.33 and the control class obtained an average score of 73.28. then the results of the inferential analysis with the hypothesis testing of the independent sample t Test and the Manova test obtained a sig value <0.005 so that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, meaning that the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts and the learning motivation of students taught using problem-based learning models was higher compared to the understanding of mathematical concepts of students taught using direct learning models.
