Lingkungan Parappe, Kecamatan Banggae Timur, Kabupaten Majene memiliki potensi untuk dijadikan tempat budidaya rumput laut karena memiliki kualitas air yang cukup baik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan pertumbuhan jenis bibit rumput laut Eucheuma cotoonii dan Eucheuma striatum dengan menggunakan metode galon. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus - September 2023 selama 40 hari di perairan Lingkungan Parappe, Kecamatan Banggae Timur, Kabupaten Majene, Provinsi Sulawesi barat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yaitu menggunakan Eucheuma cottonii
dan Eucheuma striatum dengan 6 kali ulangan.Data yang di ambil meliputi pertumbuhan berat mutlak, pertumbuhan laju spesifik dan kualitas Air.kualitas air meliputi pengukuran suhu, pH, salinitas, DO, kecerahan, kedalaman, kecepatan, fosfat dan nitrat.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rumput laut Eucheuma striatum mengalami perumbuhan positif sedangkan pada rumput laut Eucheuma
cottonii mengalami penurunan bobot.
The Parappe neighborhood, East Banggae District, Majene Regency has the potential to be used as a seaweed cultivation place because it has quite good water quality. The purpose of this study is to determine the comparison of the growth of Eucheuma cotoonii and Eucheuma striatum seaweed seedlings using the gallon method. This research was carried out in August - September 2023 for
40 days in the waters of Parappe Environment, East Banggae District, Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province. The research method used is an experimental method with a complete random design (RAL), namely using Eucheuma cottonii and Eucheuma striatum with 6 replicates. The data taken includes absolute weight growth, specific rate growth and water quality. Water quality includes
measurements of temperature, pH, salinity, DO, brightness, depth, velocity, phosphate and nitrate. The results showed that Eucheuma striatum seaweed experienced positive growth while Eucheuma cottonii seaweed experienced weight loss.
