Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the performance of paving blocks made using the hydraulic handpress method based on the SNI 03-0691-1996 standard. The main focus of the study is on the parameters of compressive strength and water absorption to ensure that the paving blocks meet the specified quality, particularly class B. The research was conducted at the Integrated Laboratory of the University of West
Sulawesi using main materials such as composite Portland cement, fine aggregate from the Mapilli River, and coarse aggregate from Duampanua District. The production process was carried out manually using a hydraulic handpress mold, and testing was conducted at 28 days. The test results showed that the paving blocks from all variations of the mixture met the visual appearance and size criteria
according to SNI, but the compressive strength values did not meet the targeted class B quality. Nevertheless, the paving blocks still have good quality and can be used for certain applications. This study is expected to be a reference for improving the quality of paving blocks through hydraulic compaction technology and identifying factors that affect the compressive strength of paving blocks.
