Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine students' ability to understand concepts before and after applying the problem based learning model assisted by PhET simulation media and whether there is a significant influence of the problem based learning model assisted by PhET simulation media on conceptual
understanding of students at SMA Negeri 3 Majene. The research method used was Quasi Experimental with the Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study was all students in class XI MIPA, the samples used were classes XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2 using total sampling techniques. The data
analysis technique used consists of descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. As for the results of research on students' conceptual understanding in the experimental class, the pretest average was 25.07% in the low category and the posttest average was 64.52% in the high category, while in the experimental control class the pretest average was 23.64% in the high category. low and the posttest average was 27.76%
in the low category. The results of the normality test are normally distributed and the homogeneity test has a homogeneous variance with a sig value. α>0.05. Based on the T-test results, a significant value of 0.000 was obtained, which was <0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the problem based learning model assisted by PhET simulation media on students' understanding of
concepts
