Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of utilizing a combination of industrial waste as eco-friendly alternative materials in paving block manufacturing. The experiment utilized 25% nickel waste as a fine aggregate replacement and 20% ultrafine palm oil fuel ash (POFA) as a cement replacement. The specimens, sized 20x10x8 cm, were fabricated using a hydraulic vibro-press machine. Tested parameters included compressive strength (at 7, 28, and 56 days), water absorption (at 28 and 56 days), and non-destructive UPVT (at 28 days). The results indicated that the substitution materials decreased the mechanical quality of the pavement. At 56 days, the normal variation (N-1) achieved the highest compressive strength of 15,162 MPa, while the substitution variations RXA-1 (unscreened) and RYA-1 (passed sieve No. 4) only reached 8,600 MPa and 9,133 MPa, respectively, failing to meet the SNI 03-0691-1996 standards. The UPVT values for all variations ranged between 2.523–2.646 km/s, classified as poor. Conversely, unscreened nickel waste (RXA-1) positively affected durability, yielding the lowest water absorption of 8.730% at 56 days.
